May 1st was awesome!!!

May 1st was a really good day for me. I went to my first march, and it was just sooo awesome, I wanna do it all over again. I can't remember the last time I screamed, but I needed to do that. It felt really good...and it was so nice to see how we walk together because the fight's not over yet. It reminds us that we stand together, and helps us remember why we are pushing for our rights, and why we can't give up, and how all of our energy out in the streets that day must continue everyday, and not stop there in the march.

Then, after that, we went back to campus, and a friend mentioned the night before that there will be a Culture Night and we had a chance to make dream catchers. I fail at making dream catchers, and sadly, it was the most pathetic dream catcher I have ever seen. I showed it to a friend this morning, and she was not surprised with my lack of artistic skills, and we laughed..."It's your laziness," she said. Which is true. I try to exert the least amount of energy in anything I am doing...hard to explain, this is just a little joke we have ourselves that you probably won't understand until you have lived with me...But I'm just not the type of person who spends time on artsy things and I've always hated projects teachers made me do, and really, I am just physically lazy that eats too much crap that's bad for you. After seeing that my dream catcher was a total failure, I gave up, and ate some more. Yummy tamales and chips and salsa, oh yeah!! Then we saw various performers about indigenous culture. That was really cool. I didn't even know about the singing gongs we had in the Philippines that they used to communicate. So awesome.

After that, I went to a friend's apartment, and we worked on our dream catchers. Hers was wayy better than mine. I fixed up my dream catcher, and it looks a little better, but not much..My friend says it looks like a spider web. haha. fail. I was gonna hang it in my room, but never mind.

Then, a friend who I haven't seen in a while called me, and we decided to watch a movie together. We watched Obsessed, which I would have never been able to get through that movie by myself. It's interesting...if you watch it with other people, and add your own commentary. I know, I didn't do the boycott thing, but...this friend and I go wayy back to middle school, and we haven't hung out in a really long time. So it was nice to see each other again, and relax, and just laugh.

He also invited two of his friends, and it was nice getting to know them too. One of them, it turns out, we had many friends in common with each other. According to facebook, 23 mutual friends. gotta love that facebook. So it was really cool realizing that we knew the same people, and both liked doing social justice stuff.

Since it was around 1ish am when the movie ended, we went to Denny's, and had some yummy banana split. And dipped pancakes in my ice cream when my ice cream was melted. It's actually really good. I recommend it. Along with wheat flour tortillas with peanut butter with ice cream, which I had a few days ago. yummmyyy.

Overall, very good day. Loved it.

You should post a pic of the dream catcher, im curious now.

"I try to exert the least amount of energy in anything I am doing...hard to explain" - that's because you're American :p and we Americans procrastinate!
