Just for Fun: Odd Food Combinations

Today, my sister made popcorn and put Tapatio on it, and that's when I realized that I'm not the only one that's weird in my family, that mixes odd things together...Here's a few I've made. You should try them too!

1. Kettle corn in ice cream: My dad taught me that one. He was eating ice cream, then he exclaimed very excited when I opened the freezer to get some ice cream, "Yohan! Try it with the popcorn!" And I did, and it's good.

2. Ketchup on my pizza: Learned from Ricardo's cousins.

3. Fish spaghetti: I'm not sure if this is a Filipino thing, or if my mom just invented it, but my mom has been making this since I was a kid, although I haven't had some in a few years now. She uses salmon, pasta, lots of tomatoes, no tomato paste. I wish she would make it again.

4. Mac n' Cheese w/ Tuna, or mac n' cheese w/ salsa: both are yummy.

5. Popcorn w/ Parmesan: It was good, but I've always hated the smell of parmesan.

6. Flour tortillas with peanut butter dipped in soft serve ice cream: something I crave sometimes. I lovveee soft serve ice cream! Way better than real vanilla ice cream!

7. making sandwiches with Italian dressing or Ranch: discovered it sometime in high school, when I realized my very dry sandwiches I sometimes brought to school needed more taste than mayo, cheese, and ham.

8. Dorritos in my salad: first tried it in band camp. Oh band camp, brings back painful memories of standing in the sun and getting metronome tempos and show music stuck in my head the whole season. I admit, I miss it, just a tiny tiny bit.

9. Dorritos with sour cream: tried it just last night, when I saw my mom and family friends eating it.

10. Hot Cheetos with cream cheese: I guess this isn't too original, I've heard of this before. Pretty good.

11. making ham and cream cheese sandwiches, or ham and cream cheese in flour tortillas. I recommend it.

12. Ham (when I say ham, I mean any type of meat) with hummus sandwiches.

13. dipping fries in a mixture of ketchup and mayo: Is this normal? My mom taught me this when I was a kid, but have not done this since I was a kid either. But from what I can remember, I liked it.

14. putting fries in my burgers: Again, i think this is a normal thing to do, and for some reason, I only do this when I get In-n-Out fries and cheeseburgers. But my mom says that I've been doing this since I was a kid, whenever I got happy meals. Oh those meal toys made me so happy.

15. Putting mangoes in my grilled burgers: I discovered this while at the beach a few summers ago. I just thought...Hawaiian burgers have pineapples, so why not use mangoes? Delicious. I ate many burgers that day.

16. Putting the Asian sweet and sour sauce (the one used for lumpia) in burgers. also yumm.

17. sliced hot dogs in my sandwich, with ketchup and mayo: something I loved in elementary school, when my mom made it whenever we ran out of meat slices.

18. corn, butter, and rice: again, haven't had this since childhood, BUT this was my favorite! My mom made it for me and my cousins, and we would all get super excited. But then again, we were always crazy and hyper whenever we were together. I don't know why we loved it so much, must be a kid thing.

19. vinegar: I sometimes take a few teaspoons, and just drink it. I love vinegar! I once put vinegar in a classic lays bag of chips, because I love salt and vinegar chips.

And These are some things my odd taste buds like...
